The Ingredients to the Perfect Wedding

Every girl grows up imagining her perfect wedding. No matter where you reside, no matter what the culture, it is this innate reverie embedded in every girl’s biological makeup. So what are the ingredients to the perfect wedding?  Better yet, to make things more interesting, what constitutes as your perfect ‘Pakistani’ wedding?

For starters, to have a groom present!
Much like you choose the perfect fat chicken at the grocers, you must find your chicken (groom) before the wedding. The minute a girl turns the ripe age of 18, a switch flips in her parents’ brains (no matter how liberal, they are all thinking it), and they unconsciously/consciously begin eyeing eligible boys for their little princess. All the while without realizing, their little princess is doing the same. This therefore brings us to the age old debate of the arranged marriage vs. the love marriage. For those lucky few who meet their mates in the pages of a beautiful love story, that they later proudly tell their children and grandchildren, it’s quite simple. But for the rest of the commoners, it means countless cringe-worthy tea parties, small-talk, and exercise of the cheek muscles from all that fake smiling. Not to mention the ever growing portfolio of mama’s-boys eyeing you from across the room with cheesy smiles, leaving you feeling like an éclair on display at a bakery window.

Once the groom is in, next step is all about ‘Location, Location, Location’. With the vast abundance of wedding halls this step has been made relatively easier. You pay the wedding hall and they make all the arrangements, but being classic Pakistani businesses, you will find negligent slipshod methods in play. The only cutlery you find at a wedding like this is a spoon; I ask, how is one supposed to eat chicken tikka, with a spoon? Not to mention chairs that have been colour coded to match the walls in a toddler’s nursery and table centre pieces that consist of a jar with a single stem red rose; how romantic!
The fortunate few who have access to farm houses and empty plots of land, pitch up their tents and create a dreamy bubble within which for one night one gets transported away from the daily grind, to a twinkling utopia of bright smiles, colourful clothes and food fit for a king.
The most vital ingredient in the perfect wedding revolves around the one thing that draws the crowds and puts the ‘joy’ in the joyous occasion. The recent limit by the government to the amount of dishes served has put a damper on the occasion, but that does not stop people from finding loop holes in order to serve the 15 dishes (excluding Firni, which is not constituted as a dish but more of a necessity at every wedding). In order to have a successful wedding, one that is the talk of the town, one has to manage to serve all the important food groups, and then more. It’s true what they say, the way to a Pakistani’s heart is surely through their stomach!
“If music be the food of love, play on.”
But if that music is a grumpy old man on a piano (one that does not take requests), and plays mostly his own rendition of ‘careless whisper’, do you really want him to play on?
Just for once I would like to hear some classic soothing jazz, which does not come off as cheesy. But then without the cheesy backdrop music, what would soundtrack the sappy speeches? Another fad that has caught on like wild fire, where members of the family hog the microphone for longer than they should, in an attempt to tell inside jokes, (that only the family understands) and teary versions of congratulatory speeches. One wedding I accidentally walked into had an hour long ceremony, complete with speeches, and bouquets given to family members by the bride and groom, as a ‘thank you for participating in their wedding’. If you think that was odd, now imagine it with game-show music in the back every time a family member came up on stage to receive their bouquet. Personally, I feel, this part could be left out of the ceremony, for the sake of the guests, who are not closely related to the wedding party.

Weddings rarely go exactly as you expect them to, but for every girl who has ever imagined her fairytale wedding; it is the happiest day of her life. And what better way to start a brand new chapter in your life than with a bang. That is exactly what one family thought they would do, when they decided to enter with the barat on horse-drawn carriages. A beautiful sight to see, as the carriages pulled in and beautiful girls with their long flowing dresses and parlour-perfect hair got off. What they did not anticipate was fireworks, scaring the poor horses into frenzy and ending in quite a ‘messy’ and chaotic situation. Word to the wise, if you try to top that and settle for a Mughal-theme wedding, complete with the barat entering on elephants, think again!

If it were my wedding, I would want there to be utter chaos, to derive the maximum fun out of an occasion which otherwise is expected to be completely boring and civilized. After all, don’t you want to remember this day for the rest of your life?

Bring on the New Year..and some new Music!

Actually iv been 'bringing on' the new year for a month now, and i still don't feel like iv embarked on a new journey as yet! You know that feeling of Change, brand-new-awakening and that new-found-hope that you feel at the beginning of each year? as soon as you wake up, the morning after New years (after of course the sick feeling of partying like its the end of the world, the night before).
Bottom Line, i don't feel it as yet..I have felt a lot of other things, thought of all the ways i can change things up a bit, so as to not feel like i'm stuck in some kind of rut! So far the only thing that has changed (yet again) is the kind of music iv been listening to lately..(in an attempt to uplift my Soul-says the psychotherapist side of my brain). So here i am, sharing again, with you..hope it lifts your soul as well!

I want the world to stop- Belle & Sebastian ..Starting slow, an excellent tune with an old school feel. I for one cannot get enough of it. Top of my playlist.

L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N- Noah and the whale ..From the english Indie band that brought you '5 years time' (which im sure iv talked about before-go through previous posts you lazies)

Sweet about me- Ida Maria(BBC Live Lounge) ..An amazing cover of Gabrielle Cilmi..which some say is better than the original.. personally i felt both were so different that they could be songs in their own right! This one i might just like (slightly) better, mostly because of her raspy smokey voice backed by some gorgeous guitar..Classic Live lounge!

Someone Like you-Adele (BBC Live Lounge) ..Since we are on the live lounge/slow-mo theme, i though id put in an absolute Beaut of a song by one of my favorites. The piano complements her deeply emotional vocals with lyrics that pierce into your heart and hit a home run (c'mon do you feel a pinch in your heart when you hear the words? Happened to us all, at some point or the other, right?)

Window Seat- Erykah Badu ..The ultimate Queen of soul/funk. A lyrical genius that speaks directly to you..yes the everyday you. Chilled out stuff, guaranteed win!

Rolling in the Deep-Adele (Jamie XX remix) ..The original is one of my favoirtes off her new album..and another great artist, Jamie (from The XX-band) has taken the song ot whole other level, with this great remix!

Time to change tempo..

Hello- Martin Solveig & Dragonette ..Speaks for itself!

Animal- Neon Trees ..Weird lyrics, but what a fun song, that gets stuck in your head so bad! UH-OH!

What You Know-Two Door Cinema Club ..This band has fast become one of my favorites, simply for their very distinct sound. Really enjoyed listening to this in the car, singing along!

You can Dance- Chilly Gonzales ..Top of my playlist these days! Highly Recommend a listen!! (the video starts off funny/cute but fast becomes creepy, sexist and Weird. So apologies for the vid, this was the only one with the good version)

My feelings for you- Avicii & Sebastian Drums ..Danced to this for quite a while, in my room, car, kitchen, bathroom, etc. Its just one of those!

Millionaire-Kelis feat. Andre 3000 ..Foot thumpin' body boppin' feel good stuff from two very talented (and deeply under rated) artists.

Bad Gal- Savage Skulls & Douster feat. Robyn ..I hear this and it transports me to a club..Good Stuff! Robyn on vocals, with a beat that is difficult not move to!

Animal Rights- Deadmau5 & Wolfgang Gartner ..No vocals, just cool fun stuff! Starts off properly at 1 min, so push forward if your the impatient kind!

Household Goods- Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs ..and also known as T.E.E.D. Cool name haan. N'uff said? take a listen and you'll know why im not saying more..The cheezy lazer sounds in the song don't turn you off because your too busy enjoying it so much!

Demons-Fenech Soler (Hotchkiss remix) ..I have spoken about Fenech Soler time and time again..i Love them, and this remix is brilliant. And just when you think the remix does justice, theres another, which i have equally grown to appreciate so i give you the choice of hearing them both and making your own decision.
Demons-Fenech Soler (Yuksek remix) (the original songs good too! these two don't take away that much from it)

I Love You So-Cassius (Skream remix) ..Gorgeous tune! Just put together perfectly! My Anthem these days..and will be my Valentines day anthem! Something different to the cheezy love songs people play all day..this shall be mine :) (and maybe yours, who knows)

Slow Down- Break & Dj Die ..Don't be fooled by the title and the name of the artists, heh! Powerful stuff, here! Caution, it is Dub-Step, and is heavy and is also an acquired taste..so you might not enjoy it a much as i do! (Also i must add, it is a great motivator on the treadmill, if you want to give it a try!)

We can have it all- Danny Byrd (Sigma remix) ..Hello treadmill! Up-tempo-run-motivator

Enjoy!

Autumn-Play

Its that time of the month again.. (no not that time)
With a mixture of some heavy and light stuff..check out what im listening to (#whatimlisteningto) these days :)
(and hopefully so will you be..)

  • Magic- B.O.B ..My guilty pleasure..got to have me one upbeat fun (totally mainstream) song :p this ones just so much fun makes me smile!

  • The Reeling- Passion Pit .. Have you heard Sleepyhead by Passion Pit? no? Its good! Also if you like the big clavin Harris, he remixed this song..so check that out too..i cant makeup my mind about which one i like better..the original or the remixed one.. so i listen to both :)

  • The Reeling- Passion Pit (Calvin Harris Remix)

  • Getting Nowhere- Magnetic Man ft. John Legend ..Not what you would usually expect from John Legend, even vocally..but very nicely done!! Magnetic Man has its own charm..dont you think?!

  •  Acapella- Kelis ft. David Guetta .. Guetta has the beats and kelis just has this amazing raspy voice that catches your attention the minute she starts..for those who are forgetting who Kelis is, "..my milkshake brings all the boys to the yard.." (if you dont like this..change my name to milkshake)

  • Te Quiero- Stromae .. From the awkward scrawny little belgian guy(of french-rawandan origin) who brought you the world-renowned 'Alors on Danse'..His newest one! Cant really move to this in a club(yet)..im sure some dj out there will remix it soon..but i like it! More wordy than the first (even though i still cant understand it)

  • Hold Yuh- Gyptian (Major Lazer Remix) .. Major lazer will always hold a special place in my heart after 'Pon Di Floor'..and the jamaican vibe on this song just makes you want to move man!

  • 4th Of July (Fireworks)- Kelis ..still looking for this perfect remix of this song i had once heard..hvnt found it yet..but the originals pretty good too..! Like i said..this lady has a great voice!

  • Undertow- Warpaint ..If  She & Him and The XX got together and had beautiful little Indie babies, they'd be Warpaint! (hint hint you like either of the two bands i just mentioned as their mama/papa..you'll like warpaint)

  • Happiness- Alexis Jordon .. cheesy lyrics (theres always one) but somehow after listening to it for the third time, i started liking the "mmm mMmm Mmm" haha i know i sound like a retard but you will know what i mean once you hear it!

  • After Dark- The Count & Sinden Ft. Mystery Jets .. Fun song! not a club-type song but definitely listen to it in the car!

  • Lissie- When Im Alone (live) ..She is one of Favorites these days!! The passion she sings with Live is unbelievable, doesnt miss a note! I would love to see her live in a small auditorium/hall type of setting.. a big open concert might not do justice! She even Collaborates with Ellie Goulding..Two Women Power Houses! Crazy vocals!!

Since my computer is on the fritz again..i found out (through my own stupidity) i lost alot of my songs collection..very touchy topic..lets move on..
Basically i found an upside..in re-building my song library i have rediscovered/re-listened to alot of old classics i had hidden in the way back of my mind..and im thouroughly enjoying them once again..here are a few:
Old school NOSTALGIA-

Can you imagine i say our time and classics in teh same sentense..makes me feel ancient..im not!

  • Danny Byrd- ill Behaviour.. dubstep- Caution: not everybody's cup of tea (before you start hating on my taste in music)
  • Duck Sauce- Barbra Streisand..don't be fooled by the lack of vocals, very catchy tune!
  • Tensnake- Coma Cat.. another one with minimal vocal, but great sound! A very summer-in-ibiza-festival song
  • Fake Blood- I think i like it./.Fix your Accent.. this one is a double feature! I give you two songs from the same artist coz i liked them so much! (you might not, but fingers crossed) Infused in a set by a dj at a festival/club these songs would blow your mind..i guess you just have to close your eyes and let your imagination run wild (as i do mine) Clever, minimalistic vocals and great mooovin' beats!
  • Cee-Lo- Forget you.. From the genius behind Gnarles Barkley, one of the most upbeat-makes you happy-but actually quite a bitter song haha!
  • The Ting Tings- Hands..If this song doesn't make you bob your head with the beat..change my name!
  • Scissor Sisters- Any which way.. because you can never have enough of the scissor sisters :)
  • Kelly Rowland-Forever and a Day.. i am not embarassed to say that Destinys Child had some serious talent, and not all of it was in Beyonce, no matter how much her dad insists! The beat of this song makes you want to move!
  • Kesha- Take it Off.. Now i am ashamed to say i like this song..im not a big fan of Kesha or most mainstream music..DONT even talk to me about Beiber(my head might explode, and not in a good way) but this song..somehow, i like!
  • Basement Jaxx ft. Paloma Faith- Whats a girl gotta do..a combo that not only brings great leg shakin' booty poppin' but a voice thats so retro its perfect for the Basement Jaxx sound.
  • Calvin Harris- Acceptable in the 80's.. Since we are on the topic of retro! Calvin Harris always bring some great tunage..i got love for you Calvin!
  • Example- Wont go quietly.. this little Brit is my fav these days, exploding on the scene with hit after hit! You might recognize him from 'KickStarts'- my Summer 2010 Tune!
(check out his 'Last one standing' as well)
  • Monarchy- Love get out of my way.. i can see myself dancing to this in my room, can you?!
  • Mark Ronson and the Businss Int'l- The Bike Song.. crazy song titles and even crazier melodies..but they work! Remember Bang Bang Bang? (suggestion: give it more then one listen, ul like it better)
  • Swedish house Mafia ft. Tinie Tempah- Miami to Ibiza.. I have become a HUGE fan of Swedish house mafia after their 'One' ft. Pharrell..and this one doesnt disappoint!
  • Temper Trap- Sweet Disposition(Alan wilkis remix).. Remeber this? soundtrack to 500 days of Summer..well this is a whole new fresh take on it, with leaving all the greatness in the song intact! brilliant opening drum beat that continues throughout becoming the pulse of the song, with just the right amount of techno tuning! Best remix iv heard for this song so far!
  • Fenech Solar- Lies.. not the strongest lyrically..but then again most good songs arn't :p ('your tellin me sweet lies sleepin with everythin'.. convinced?!)
  • The Wombats- Tokyo(vampires & wolves).. Very upbeat everything! vocals, drums, guitars, etc. fromt the boys who brought you 'Lets dance to joy division'
  • Dirty South ft. Rudy- Phasing.. another great festival song
  • Lissie- Cuckoo.. new breakout singer songwriter..best heard live, because i believe she sounds better live! Check out her 'When im Alone' live on youtube. I like her for her lyrics-very talented! (Fell in love with being defiant, in a pickup truck that roar like a lion)
  • Labrinth- Let the Sun Shine.. cheesy but makes you smile, every time!
  • Plain White T's- Rhythm of Love.. doesnt fit in the dance category(the pattern iv been following throughout this post-so far) But its got great rhythm..take special notice to the drum beat! cheezy but totally gets stuck in your head!

(some rock..because you can never have enough of that!)

  • Pendulum- The Island.. its actually in two parts, but i think ul be good with part 1.. and again is more of an acquired taste..a sleeping taste which has recently awoken in me (if that makes any sense to you)
  • Funeral Party- Just Because.. Also check out their previous NYC moves to the sound of LA beats.

Heartache And Pain Came Pouring Down

Run fast for your mother, run fast for your father, run for your children, for your sisters and brothers..
Leave all your love and loving behind, you cant carry it with you if you want to survive.

Have we become immune?
Human beings pride themselves on being the most empathetic creatures on the planet, i ask where is this empathy when 20 million people are living in the mud and ruins of their lives, ravaged by 20 foot torrents?

Don't get me wrong, there are hundreds of people who have come to the aid of these poor people, The United Nations, private NGO's, international aid agencies...see a pattern? the same people who are forced to help, in times of a disaster!
I am not being ungrateful, not saying that people are not helping...LORD knows how much people have helped...the entire country has mobilized into a force, feuled by their 'jazbah' (fire in the heart)..

All i do is urge more and more people to feel..just feel for those who have lost EVERYTHING. i can sit here and quote statistics, post pictures of all the devastation gripping our country and update my facebook status pleading for people to come out and help..but what i really want is for people to feel..feel for all those mothers, children, brothers, sisters torn apart.

That could/should be Us..
What would you do if it was you?
What would you like everyone else to do if you were sitting on the roof of your house crumbling and sinking under you?

What would you do if the clothes on your back were the only ones you had left?
Think about what your going to have for dinner tonight..now think about those people sitting in the dark, muddy snake infested water for as far as you can see, swatting away those mosquitos and sharing one peice of bread between their family of 6.. still thinking about your dinner tonight?!

I know iv lost my appetitie.

..And its true we are immune!
When fact is fiction and TV is reality

And Today the millions cry,
we eat and drink while tomorrow they die!

No one wanted to share, so he just ate the entrie bucket of CRAZY himself.

I am a BIG movie buff..and when most people love the main charecters, laugh with the supporting goofy charecters and hate the pretentious rude charecters...
I LOVE the VILLAINS!!!
In my opinion, its the villains that MAKE up the entire movie...the movie practically revolves around them...and im not just talking about Horror movies(inwhich it is the villains whom the movie revolves around-but also thrillers, superhero genre, etc)
Hence..the following is a list of my FAVORITES!

  • The SITH (Star Wars)
The weilders of the dark side of the force. The pinnacle of their evil is something called the 'Dark Star', and although theyr few in number, theyr Stronger than the Jedi, and use politics and mind tricks to always manage to stay one up on the god guys(until their fatal ends-which every movie cliche' requires)

-Darth Vader..Supervillain! Tortures people, chokes people(using teh Force), chops off his own Son's arm and tries to turn his own daughter to the dark side.

    - Darth Maul..the dark mysterious red faced guy with the coolest lightsaber in the entire movie..(my only issue-he died wayy too early-could have done some wayy cool stuff with his charecter)
  • Hannibal Lecter (Hannibal)
A psychiatrist and cannabalistic serial Killer. Need i say more?
He is a brilliant mind and has great taste in food...litrally!
Shit hes done? Cut off the face of a guard, and wear it as a mask, no remorse for killing, scene at the dinner table where he eats the brain of Krendler, while hes still alive (with Starling)..hes ONE villain im facinated by, yet would NEVER EVER want to come across.
Plus Sir Anthony Hopkins, did SUCH a brilliant JOB in the movies!! (love)

  • Leatherface (Texas Chainsaw Massacre)
Adorned with a stiched-together-mask of the faces of all his victims, he waits for the next unlucky, lost traveler, and then the CHAINSAW comes out.
Hes a deranged, yet misunderstood man, who lives in a creepy house with his family- who together make up the CLAN FROM HELL. Torture chamber in the basement, various devices to skin his victims, and a family that aids him in his crazy antics. What makes this charecter even scarier than Freddy or Jason(too animated and ficticious for this list) could be the realness of it all..maybe its because the story is based on a true story- maybe not.

  • Gollum (Lord of the Rings)
    "Mussssst have...the PRECIOUSSSssssss"
Driven only by the power of the ring over him, he murdered and retreated into exile..After years he turned into this hideous creatures that gives you the creepy goosebumps.
He is also one of those chearecters that are like cockroaches-JUST dont die. Eventually he posses the ring by biting frodo's finger off but is pushed into the fire and meets his end.
  • Bill (Kill Bill Vol. 1 & 2)
Leader of the deadly viper assassination squad (DiVas)-a gang of well-trained killers. He is romantically linked to one of the gangs members(Beatrix Kiddo-The Bride) and impregnantes her, but after she leaves him to amrry another, he kills everyone and puts a bullet to her head. She survives, and the rest of the movie revolves around her REVENGE!
Bill is always calm with the intensity of an upcoming storm. His skills are strong and sharp since he is a merciless killer. But his soft side is shown in his love for his daughter, and love for B. Kiddo.
  • Joker (The Dark Knight-Batman)
The archenemy of Batman, a master criminal, violent psychopath and goofy trickster.
Mass murdering clown with zero empathy. Adorning clown black, white and red makeup and green hair, he is the perfect candidate for a mental asylum, in wich Batman constantly sends him.

This list keeps changing up/growing..so i will end it here..
only to give honerable Mention to...
Chucky (Childs Play)
Goro (Mortal Kombat)-
yes the four-armed-giant-human-dragon.

72 virgins!

This is a very very HIGHLY EXPLOSIVE topic(literally), and i would normally NEVER indulge in religious debate..but sometimes, when the situation asks, i feel keeping my mouth shut and opinions muted doesn't help anyone!
Hence...

People who are not very educated about other religions (not that i'm saying i'm educated enough about religions-let alone even mine) but those people who are completely illiterate about
different religions, make the common mistake of believing that the Holy Quran teaches its followers to strap on explosives and blow themselves along with infidels up, in order to get a ticket straight into heaven.

These followers in turn are promised/rewarded 72 black haired virgins.

Therein lies the common misconception- Both on the part of those illiterate many, and on the part of the foolish brainless muslims, who believe this absurd promise.

(for the brainless)
Firstly, in the Holy Book, the word used is 'Houri', which has alot of meanings, and can also be translated to mean Angels..(yes i did my research- im not giving out sweeping statements)
Therefore, 72 Angels will minister to the departed/Martyrs in heaven.. And NO nowhere does it say that the word minister has to have any sexual connotation!!! (one track minded world i tell you!) So basically the brainless fools who believe this..i would like to ask you..SERIOUSLY is that ALL you think about/want out of life..72 virgins? SERIOUSLY...you are willing to end your life for THAT...
ALSO id like to divert for a second to the feminist in me, and ask the questions that iv been dying to ask...what about women? Do they get 72 male-virgins? Do they get ANY virgins? Do they get Anything?

(for the illiterate many)
Secondly, terrorists/extremist organisations dedicated to trying to teach the rest of the world a lesson (but actually harboring serial killer/psychopath tendencies) indoctrinate their primarily illiterate trainees into believing that their suicide and killing of infidels will be the path to heaven.
There is no such statement in the Holy book.
Its quite the peaceful book, advocating understanding and tolerance!!!

I'm not a very religious person, and neither am i that well-read when it comes to my own religion(sadly). But i do know that NO religion intends to destroy the rest of the human race and urges murder.
i am extremely against hate/violence/murder(of any living thing-except lizards-but thats another post)
All we need is Love-seriously!
(this will probably be one of my very few posts on religion..because it HAD to be said)

..MushaBoo...do you think its kind of wrong to write BOOM after this post..hahahha

How Big is Yours?

Plato, Aristotle and Darwin had BIG ones;
Pythagorus had a looong one;
Santa Clause had a thick one;
Sean Conery has a well trimmed one;
and Gerard Butler has a Perfectly sized one one..

Wait...what exactly are you thinking im talking about?
BEARDS OFCORSE!... One track minds-i swear!!

Facial hair has been there since the time men were Apes..well theyr still Apes but scientists today feel we shouldnt call them that incase we hurt their ity-bity feelings..hence we resort to the name A-holes,Barbarians, sexy mothafakaaas..and ofcorse human beings!

Personally im a big fan of facial hair...(that is well tamed) im not one for clean shaved men..i LOVE the out of bed (gerard butler, Robert Pattinson type), hasnt shaved for a day or two look..but then again iv noticed, facial hair, and the men who adorn it, comes in different phases..

  • The pubescent straggly strands..gross..Puberty-what a sick time for everyone! looks more like independent hairs extending from the inside of your nose onto your upper lip..Not a good look for anyone..unfortunatly the Chinese have to live with it all their lives (i joke-no offense-but true life)

  • Post Pubescent..uber-cool stubble..my personal favorite..this two has either the struggling artist scruffy (one inch long) beard, that lightly pokes you when you get too close (Ahem!)

or then the, working architect/agent who has a special close cut razor that leave JUSt the right amount of stubble to show how hard hes been working-so hard he didnt have time to shave this morning..two-day stubble..for 2 weeks!

  • Slightly longer than you'd expected, or are comfortable with..and yes i am referring to the Pak cricket team..JESUS! right under our noses..they sprouted these long and disturbing beards..that look absolutely Gross sticking out from under their helmets..eww! HOW could anyone find THAT attractive..no wonder Sania Mirza went for the clean shaved crooked nose..sorry Afridi, get rid of that grossness on your face harbouring all the fungus and bacteria and maybe you could also bag the neighbours girl!

  • Last but not the very least-since its soooo common now..the Taliban-beard a.k.a Religion SAYS-we-should-keep-one-beard. Im not one for stereotypes and generalizations..but excuse me, if a man with a giant beard and shady blood shot eyes steps into a bus, i will be one of the passengers that gets off on the next stop! Those beards are highly UNATTRACTIVE..and i DOUBT GOD was so mean as to use religion to make men less attractive to the opposite sex(even women for that matter in those black raven penguin outfits)...so we never have sex-for pleasure that is! Know what i mean? Or would you like me to explain further? I say, if you GOT it, (and god certainly GAVE it to you)..then FLAUNT IT! GOD wants us to appreciate his art work..right! If he didnt, then he's make us put GIANT black sheets over the mountains, rivers and billy goats!

Im not one to get into religious debates..mostly because my viewpoints- i cant always convey properly! AND i feel religion is a very personal thing-each to their own opinion, i say!
BUT i feel there are more imp things to worry about ( and more imp things GOD has to worry about) than to judge us on whether our beards are EXACTLY the size of a fist or not..

There is a famous Afghan saying.." A woman with a beard, looks like a man..A man without a beard, looks like a woman"

Stupid little statement/saying, that makes me angry enough to rant!
Even with facial hair, i.e, 'Looking like a man'.. doesnt stop them from sodomizing each other, and acting like complete barbarians!
Why must everything become a gender issue with these people?
The Neanderthal male, dominant figure-head, breeeding more of his like-minded mini-me's!
I saw a show with a 13 year old Afghan boy who was slapping around his 22 year old sister and forbidding her from going out to buy groceries, because some random stranger, another pubescent afghan boy would whistle at her when she left the house..who got the beating? the Girl..whose rights of freedom were snatched away? the Girl? Who got disrespected by a child? the Girl!
And when asked why he is doing all the forbidding..he said my father is out fighting the war..i am the 'MAN OF THE HOUSE..', and all the while im thinking...if i was his sister, or his MOTHER for that matter..id Give him two slaps and tell him to shutup, and act his pubescent little age!

..he even had on his little pubescent starggly mostache-chinese style!
Made me so mad!
Am i the only one?

THIS is why i prefer living in my bubble..its not worth getting your blood pressure up and boiling! Im happy in my utopian-bubble, where i see no evil-hear no evil-and ignore injustice..but it still hurts when i look out my bubble-window and see all thats happening..
It hurts alot!!!

PassionFruitCake

Today, i was told i cuss alot...
No i did not act shocked, Gasp and say ' noooo..ofcourse NOT, your mistaking me for someone else..im practically a NUN'...because THAT would be a lie...
what did i say?
..'yes ofcourse i do! Im a very passionate person you see..hence, i cuss'
..its not a very good justification..its pathetic actually!
But for the record it did prove to be quite the conversation stopper.

Its true you know! But ofcourse im not going to take full blame..you see i also get VERY easily influenced..im like a soft piece of silly putty in the fingers of a clever sculptor..easily moulded to fit the surrounding..Heh!
No im not, secretly(sarcastically) complimenting myself..not saying i easily adapt to situations..i dont...i HATE change..but i like Adventures..who doesnt right?!
Im a regular Indiana Jones mate!
BUT thats besides the point..(off topic again..where was i)

Right!
Im not taking blame for cussing alot...OR being this passionate...the passion, i truely, whole heartedly believe is genetically maufactured..i was BORN with it! Something you cant learn or develop..your either born with it or not..and if you have the fire in your heart(passion), it comes in different degrees..like nando's Peri Peri sause choices..
  • Lemon herbs- only thing your passionate about is when you show some love for the stupid things in life..like a dead pet cat or something..(never really paid attention to it when it was alive, after its death it was your favorite)

  • Mild- a little higher up on the spice from the bottom of the passion-chain! Your probably one of those that are passionate about certain food you eat, what brand clothes you wear, etc. material shit.

  • Hot- turning up the heat a notch..passionate about everyday things that are imp to you..Career choices(i want to be a doctor-not just any, but a Neuro Surgeon, from age 4 onwards- decided!), food you eat(will starve all day, travel an hour in traffic and stand in line for another 20 mins JUST to eat that special Kabab you get from some shady place you ONCE ate at, in your childhood)

  • Extra-Hot- fire burning, fire burning in your heart! Your passionate about EVERYTHING...be it a song you have just fallen in love with, a pointless blog post typed out at 3.30 am, a random musical, a movie somehow ONLY you relate to and/or pointless facts thats only interest you.

Agree with me?!
even if you dont..i dont give a rats.. !
Because im passionate and proud, and i shall NEVER apologize for being so..im the extra extra Hot peri peri!
OH and im not going to apologize for cussing alot either..BUT i will defend myself in the case where id like to state (for the record) that in the presense of strangers, elders, etc. and esp in formal situations i DO NOT cuss..iv made it somewhat a rule..because i do follow rules of proper conduct, appropriate behaviour and social ettiquetes..my upbringing demanded it-And i dont need to say it, its clear!
(Thanks parents-mucho appreciato)

music..im so in love with my music- I Dont need you!

So along with a bad day..week..everything seems to be working against me!
The Universe has an EVIL plan in the works, against me!
Sister took the ipod..the work security people cut my online radio off..and now im stuck listening to Yogi Bear (guy who works in my office) blabber on about printing this n that and what he ate n what hes farting out...UGGHH!!
Everything is getting on my nerves today...
so im going to ignore everyone..and think happy thoughts..and give u a list of what im listening to..(these days):

*CAUTION-DISCLAIMER..if i like it, doesnt mean you will..so before you diss, pliss, try it atliss!

Bat for Lashes...Natasha Khan leads the band with her powerful yet effortless performances..belting out perfectly harmonized high pitched melodies..but a bit on the dark side, well mostly because the theme of her recent album seems to be of loneliness..and yes the videos are weird..okay 'understatement'...VERY WEIRD! But they graphically depict the weirdness of the lyrics and the dark theme! Shes good..and so is the music!

She & Him..i may have spoken about them before..but i only just FELL madly in love! If their music was somehow magically transformed into a man..id marry him twice! in other words id marry She & Him twice!
Zooey Deschanel sings lead with music backing done by this handsomly brooding individual..who only rarely provides his manly voice in a song or two assisting Zooey's. The girl is Queen of Indie movies, and now has proved her talent dsnt just lie in batting her eye lids, smiling a quirky smile and starring in rom-coms that make it big out of Sundance..

Regina Spektor..another quite the quirky performer..and if you thought Bat for Lashes had weird videos...wait till you get a load of this one...but heyy shes super talented yo!
And shes british...i think! Will have to do some checking..but what does it matter..Go take a listen to 'US' (the song)..yes it is the opening song for (500) Days of Summer (and yes my obsession with that movie is FAR from over) but nice lyrics..funny voice..but good shit!

The XX..i fell for one song..and then another..but mostly still stuck on the first..'ISLANDS'..i just cant seem to get enough of listening to it on full volume, in the car till my drivers ear drums are popping and hes making excruciating faces in the rear view mirror. What bass, what nonchalant monotone singing voices that complement each other oh so well..good stuff!

Noah & the Whale..okay its not really fair since i only REALLY like their one song..and havnt experimented with the entire album yet..heard one or two others that didnt sit very well..but their one song that i did fall for.. '5 YEARS TIME'...Great song..lyrically and with just a ukelee to back it up!

im Still in love with Florence and the Machine..(and if u STILL havnt heard them..honestly..im giving up on you!
Black kids still on my playlist..although i really should branch out and listen to more of them..theyre VERY interesting!
Yeah Yeah Yeah's also peaked my interest witht heir song ZERO..
I dont know if i just love the song or maybe ive heard it too many times on the radio and now its just become bareable, so listening to it seems..routine now..but Pearl Jam's THE FIXER is a great listen too..so effortless! Phoenix with LISZTOMANIA and Novel with DAMN, also make the playlist these days!

And last but not least..i was introduced to this song by..(and it hurts to say it out loud) my SISTER...ugghh i dont really know HOW that happened..and at first like everything she makes me listen to i said CRAP, shit, YUCK..Trash! And then on a lonely underground tube ride..listening to it over and over again..i realized woah..shit i cant believe i actually like this song.. Top 25 Mashup 2009 hits...im cringing as i type it..since its so generic its almost NOT ME!
But its a good song..those close friends of mine..will be recieving a copy courtesy of youtube..in their INBOX msgs on fb..(too ashamed to put it out there for the world to see)..

AND NOW, coming to the original point i was making all over this post.. LONELINESS..its in the theme of most of the songs..in the discovery of my new songs..and should soon become the theme of my life..since, you come into this world alone..the only way you progress is alone..(because attachments-yes ppl attached to you or you attached to them) creates extra baggage and hence bogs you down!
SO! My friends..Lonely-Town is the name of the game..
May the force be with you..
Peace. Love. Harmony..and Great Great Melodies!

Mushabooom boom!

I tried to do handstands for you..everytime i fell for you!

"..So Please Please Please, let me..let me..let me get what i want, this time
..Lord knows it would be the first time.."

And then i saw it again on the plane!...and as the opening line was narrated by a sarcastically dry storyteller..i thought to myself..i should, no i NEED to shut it right now, before i ruin it and start hating it(like i have done with sooo many others). First time you watch soemthing your too busy following the storyline to observe the cracks and wrinkles secretly camouflaged in the backdrop. Second time you see it, everyones a critic!
It took all of my non-existent will power to muster up the courage to click the ''off'' button..and for once, i was grateful to my indecisive rabbit-heart- I did not shut it..and instead ended up surprising myself, and falling truly madly deeply in love all over again!

“I tried to do handstands for you..I'm permanently black and blue, permanently blue for you..”

And now I sit wondering why did they not include the song ‘Bruises by Chairlift’ to the movie soundtrack?!
Maybe it was too obvious a give-away, since it sort of decribes the storyline quite appropriatly! And they were going for a more subtle soundtrack listing..(which btw they did and EXCELLENT job with)..but there isnt really much subtlty in this movie- the Truth in it all, just subtly slaps you in the face..like an old maidens leather glove, from an old western!

The Good 'Ol Romance, that we once found in cliche'd early 90's movies with our Meg Ryans, Tom Hanks, Greg Kinnears, John Cusaks and early Hugh Jackmans (in his Pre-wolf-man-Buff-Bod Days)..An Era of Bad hair cuts , baggy-roll-out-of-bed clothes and even worse sunglasses' styles!
Those story-lines made your stomach churn, made you Yearn for that kind of feeling..that those actors so cleverly depicted in the movies..with every lingering look, every cheeky side smile, every passionate kiss..your heart did flip flops.. yes yes false hope.. breeding grounds for Fairytale dreams, greeting cards, and pointless holidays like Valentines day properganda.. BUT HEY! Maybe some people LIKE to live in their own little bubble, of fantasy world! Paris Hilton lives in hers..why should i be robbed of mine!
im not hurting anyone (except maybe myself) with my day dreaming?! Am i?

Yes I agree this particular movie does not give false hope and doesnt fill your head with dreams of the perfect man, waiting for you at the park corner with his adorable golden retriever..but it tells the TRUTH! SOMEONE ALWAYS GETS HURT.. Someone’s heart always gets ripped out and stomped on. And when Summer leaves him..("i think we need to take a break..its not you, its me..these are really good pancakes") you feel his pain, his heart slowly painfully tearing…and with each audible rip, your stomach too turns.. And yet she says that dreadfully fearful two lines with no feeling in her voice.."mmM these are good pancakes"

So simple..yet SO powerful!
Its just a movie..
i keep telling myself..

But i cant help, somehow...embedding myself into the cracks..like a book rummaging for answers in the pages ..as to HOW & WHY, we as human beings (with feelings) could be so cruel...and WHY we cant just turn off these feelings..like a light switch? Why does it physically hurt when the pain caused is only mental? why is it that two people cannot be on the same page?...

Joss Stone

"A car this fine don't pass your way everyday
Don't cha wanna ride baby"

Jocelyn Eve Stoker..born 11th April 1987 (i am not a stalker, just thought id get some facts before i start on how im in love with her songs)

Yes she is as old as me..but she looks MUCH MUCH older..i guess people in england and america just age faster, because culturally they face 'LIFE' alot faster then we do..we are babied and smothered and cushioned from real hard life, until we forcefully/secretly apply to college and run away abroad..our parents just dont want to let go..Whatsupwiththat?!
My dad sometimes jokingly(although sometiems i fear he's serious) says, il NEVER let u go, even after u marry your can live upstairs...creepy!

Not alot of people know about her, and those who know dont like her sound...WHYYYY i ask? WHY? She is the perfect blend of new sound, Soul, RnB and hippy culture all rolled into one..
You can see her in her live performances always running back and forth on stage barefeet, belting out strong/heavy melodies with sweet ass lyrics about love, make-ups, break-ups and taking a ride in a hummer in the summer..hehe

One of the first songs of hers that i fell in love with.."Donch'u wanna ride baby" was such a deep song with such innocent lyrics..and most of you wont agree with me on this one but YES its deep.. She is very aware of the human need to love and be loved by someone and she effortlessly sings about the need for his 'hands all over me'.. 'need you so bad'..'how he is a bad habit'..shes young, experienceing firs love, first heartbreak, etc for the first time..cheesy yes, but then what else do you expect her to be singing about? the economy going Ka-Put? how its the first black president America has ever had, and already the country is broke(courtesy of Wanda Sykes hahah)
(and now that iv made such a poor case in her favour..)

She gives Killer performances(her voice) she has SUCH heart and soul that they make you believe her love of the music is pure..shes at her BEST on stage, Barefoot mind-you(which is kinda cute), shes bubbly, friendly and ALWAYS talks to the audience telling stories of how she wrote the song, or was inspired by it..and the best part...shes not some nobody..shes been on the scene for the last 6 7 years and has had the priviledge to sing with some of music's GREATEST..

What you think im bluffing? well let me go on to throw a few names on the table to make my case stronger..
James Brown, Tom JOnes, Smokey Robinson, Melissa Ethridge, Common(yes the rapper), John Legend, Carlos Santana(The Man), Leanne Rhimes, Rob Thomas, Gladys Knight, Erykah Badu and Blondie...(no kidding)
Singing Classics like 'Take me to the river'(one of my favs), 'No woman no cry', L.O.V.E, and tributes to Aretha franklin, Live8, many many many charity concerts(she cant say no when people ask her to perform at a charity thing)

This girl is a powerhouse, known as the 'British Soul Sensation'..her music has blown me away..(and then others say shes too loud for them..what do they know)

P.S: shes not THAT commercial..I LOVE THAT! i hope she never becomes commercialized..dont want another britney on our hands..and shes still young(as am i :P) long road ahead of her..and i hope she continues to come out with GREAT music..looking fwd to it..

:)

Confessions

I just finished watching the first 7 episodes of the new season of 'Chuck'..the comdeic, spy-based show about a geek whose secretly a spy..
and i must say..season 3 has very much amuzed me!! MUCH better than the first two seasons! Fo Sho!

which brings me to why im sitting typing this out..
did you ever want to be a spy when you were young?
Maybe it was just me, and my shady obsession with X-files, but i had always wanted to be in the FBI/CIA/some kind of Special services...
c'mon it takes alot to put these secret passions of mine out there, in the open..
and i knw i sound half-childish and kinda gay haha but when i got slightly older my passion got slightly more refined..and i got inspired by an article i read, about forensic anthropology..peked my interest, and my gave birth to my dream of becoming one! Closest thing to a special agent or a crime scene :P

..and then i watch a tv show called 'Bones'..(yes somehow i always come back to the tv) and even though the main charecter-forensic anthropologist- is an uptight, socially retarded stiffy..in other words(and im going to be vain again) NOT at all me..haha yes i relate myself to whatever i watch..i am indeed one of those!..i was weirdly facinated by that line of work..but then again, medicine(bones skeletons) not my thing!

So i watch a show called 'Criminal Minds' ...NOW THATS What im talking about!!
That is what i want to do! Now dont get me wrong, im not disturbed, neither do i get a kick out of dirsturbing crime scene shows with all the blood and gore..(but i do love my occasional scary movie now and then) but im not going to lie..that stuff facinated me..
The attention to detail, thinking like a criminal, profiling the killers, using psychological analysis on their behaviour patterns to deduce what kind of criminals they are..haha

im goig off track here as usual arnt i?
basically what this one is really about is..im opening myself up more..path to a new more open me! So let this be one of my very first confessions...
..I secretly want to be a Spy/Criminal behavioural analyst/forensic anthropologist!
and maybe, someday, il end up atleast coming close to something along these lines..!
Till then..
