'Coz It Makes You Want To Moooooove!

Summers over, but im still basking in the summer-song glory!
If you like what you hear, hit me up so we can chat more music! :)
Dance Dance like its the Last Last night of your Life Life-->
(headsup: song titles/artists in red)

  • Usher- Dj got us fallin' in Love.. heeees back!
  • Chromeo- Fancy Footwork..the song was elevated and put on the scene with Step Up 3D
  • Danny Byrd- ill Behaviour.. dubstep- Caution: not everybody's cup of tea (before you start hating on my taste in music)
  • Duck Sauce- Barbra Streisand..don't be fooled by the lack of vocals, very catchy tune!
  • Tensnake- Coma Cat.. another one with minimal vocal, but great sound! A very summer-in-ibiza-festival song
  • Fake Blood- I think i like it./.Fix your Accent.. this one is a double feature! I give you two songs from the same artist coz i liked them so much! (you might not, but fingers crossed) Infused in a set by a dj at a festival/club these songs would blow your mind..i guess you just have to close your eyes and let your imagination run wild (as i do mine) Clever, minimalistic vocals and great mooovin' beats!
  • Cee-Lo- Forget you.. From the genius behind Gnarles Barkley, one of the most upbeat-makes you happy-but actually quite a bitter song haha!
  • The Ting Tings- Hands..If this song doesn't make you bob your head with the beat..change my name!
  • Scissor Sisters- Any which way.. because you can never have enough of the scissor sisters :)
  • Kelly Rowland-Forever and a Day.. i am not embarassed to say that Destinys Child had some serious talent, and not all of it was in Beyonce, no matter how much her dad insists! The beat of this song makes you want to move!
  • Kesha- Take it Off.. Now i am ashamed to say i like this song..im not a big fan of Kesha or most mainstream music..DONT even talk to me about Beiber(my head might explode, and not in a good way) but this song..somehow, i like!
  • Basement Jaxx ft. Paloma Faith- Whats a girl gotta do..a combo that not only brings great leg shakin' booty poppin' but a voice thats so retro its perfect for the Basement Jaxx sound.
  • Calvin Harris- Acceptable in the 80's.. Since we are on the topic of retro! Calvin Harris always bring some great tunage..i got love for you Calvin!
  • Example- Wont go quietly.. this little Brit is my fav these days, exploding on the scene with hit after hit! You might recognize him from 'KickStarts'- my Summer 2010 Tune!
(check out his 'Last one standing' as well)
  • Monarchy- Love get out of my way.. i can see myself dancing to this in my room, can you?!
  • Mark Ronson and the Businss Int'l- The Bike Song.. crazy song titles and even crazier melodies..but they work! Remember Bang Bang Bang? (suggestion: give it more then one listen, ul like it better)
  • Swedish house Mafia ft. Tinie Tempah- Miami to Ibiza.. I have become a HUGE fan of Swedish house mafia after their 'One' ft. Pharrell..and this one doesnt disappoint!
  • Temper Trap- Sweet Disposition(Alan wilkis remix).. Remeber this? soundtrack to 500 days of Summer..well this is a whole new fresh take on it, with leaving all the greatness in the song intact! brilliant opening drum beat that continues throughout becoming the pulse of the song, with just the right amount of techno tuning! Best remix iv heard for this song so far!
  • Fenech Solar- Lies.. not the strongest lyrically..but then again most good songs arn't :p ('your tellin me sweet lies sleepin with everythin'.. convinced?!)
  • The Wombats- Tokyo(vampires & wolves).. Very upbeat everything! vocals, drums, guitars, etc. fromt the boys who brought you 'Lets dance to joy division'
  • Dirty South ft. Rudy- Phasing.. another great festival song
  • Lissie- Cuckoo.. new breakout singer songwriter..best heard live, because i believe she sounds better live! Check out her 'When im Alone' live on youtube. I like her for her lyrics-very talented! (Fell in love with being defiant, in a pickup truck that roar like a lion)
  • Labrinth- Let the Sun Shine.. cheesy but makes you smile, every time!
  • Plain White T's- Rhythm of Love.. doesnt fit in the dance category(the pattern iv been following throughout this post-so far) But its got great rhythm..take special notice to the drum beat! cheezy but totally gets stuck in your head!

(some rock..because you can never have enough of that!)

  • Pendulum- The Island.. its actually in two parts, but i think ul be good with part 1.. and again is more of an acquired taste..a sleeping taste which has recently awoken in me (if that makes any sense to you)
  • Funeral Party- Just Because.. Also check out their previous NYC moves to the sound of LA beats.
  • 30 Seconds to Mars- Closer to the Edge..Check out the Video, you'l know why i like them!
  • Paramore- Careful.. this band just proves to be more and more awesome, with a powerhouse for a lead singer!
  • Biffy Clyro- God and Satan.. Great lyrics!
  • Kings of Leon- Radioactive...Saved the BEST for last, their newest single from their new album..Although id like to give special mention to 'Fans' probably one of the best songs!

music..im so in love with my music- I Dont need you!

So along with a bad day..week..everything seems to be working against me!
The Universe has an EVIL plan in the works, against me!
Sister took the ipod..the work security people cut my online radio off..and now im stuck listening to Yogi Bear (guy who works in my office) blabber on about printing this n that and what he ate n what hes farting out...UGGHH!!
Everything is getting on my nerves today...
so im going to ignore everyone..and think happy thoughts..and give u a list of what im listening to..(these days):

*CAUTION-DISCLAIMER..if i like it, doesnt mean you will..so before you diss, pliss, try it atliss!

Bat for Lashes...Natasha Khan leads the band with her powerful yet effortless performances..belting out perfectly harmonized high pitched melodies..but a bit on the dark side, well mostly because the theme of her recent album seems to be of loneliness..and yes the videos are weird..okay 'understatement'...VERY WEIRD! But they graphically depict the weirdness of the lyrics and the dark theme! Shes good..and so is the music!

She & Him..i may have spoken about them before..but i only just FELL madly in love! If their music was somehow magically transformed into a man..id marry him twice! in other words id marry She & Him twice!
Zooey Deschanel sings lead with music backing done by this handsomly brooding individual..who only rarely provides his manly voice in a song or two assisting Zooey's. The girl is Queen of Indie movies, and now has proved her talent dsnt just lie in batting her eye lids, smiling a quirky smile and starring in rom-coms that make it big out of Sundance..

Regina Spektor..another quite the quirky performer..and if you thought Bat for Lashes had weird videos...wait till you get a load of this one...but heyy shes super talented yo!
And shes british...i think! Will have to do some checking..but what does it matter..Go take a listen to 'US' (the song)..yes it is the opening song for (500) Days of Summer (and yes my obsession with that movie is FAR from over) but nice lyrics..funny voice..but good shit!

The XX..i fell for one song..and then another..but mostly still stuck on the first..'ISLANDS'..i just cant seem to get enough of listening to it on full volume, in the car till my drivers ear drums are popping and hes making excruciating faces in the rear view mirror. What bass, what nonchalant monotone singing voices that complement each other oh so well..good stuff!

Noah & the Whale..okay its not really fair since i only REALLY like their one song..and havnt experimented with the entire album yet..heard one or two others that didnt sit very well..but their one song that i did fall for.. '5 YEARS TIME'...Great song..lyrically and with just a ukelee to back it up!

im Still in love with Florence and the Machine..(and if u STILL havnt heard them..honestly..im giving up on you!
Black kids still on my playlist..although i really should branch out and listen to more of them..theyre VERY interesting!
Yeah Yeah Yeah's also peaked my interest witht heir song ZERO..
I dont know if i just love the song or maybe ive heard it too many times on the radio and now its just become bareable, so listening to it seems..routine now..but Pearl Jam's THE FIXER is a great listen too..so effortless! Phoenix with LISZTOMANIA and Novel with DAMN, also make the playlist these days!

And last but not least..i was introduced to this song by..(and it hurts to say it out loud) my SISTER...ugghh i dont really know HOW that happened..and at first like everything she makes me listen to i said CRAP, shit, YUCK..Trash! And then on a lonely underground tube ride..listening to it over and over again..i realized woah..shit i cant believe i actually like this song.. Top 25 Mashup 2009 hits...im cringing as i type it..since its so generic its almost NOT ME!
But its a good song..those close friends of mine..will be recieving a copy courtesy of youtube..in their INBOX msgs on fb..(too ashamed to put it out there for the world to see)..

AND NOW, coming to the original point i was making all over this post.. LONELINESS..its in the theme of most of the songs..in the discovery of my new songs..and should soon become the theme of my life..since, you come into this world alone..the only way you progress is alone..(because attachments-yes ppl attached to you or you attached to them) creates extra baggage and hence bogs you down!
SO! My friends..Lonely-Town is the name of the game..
May the force be with you..
Peace. Love. Harmony..and Great Great Melodies!

Mushabooom boom!

Blaxploitation

I came across something very interesting, and as usual, i assumed that not alot of other people out there would know about it either (since i believe the world revolves around me, and what i do, they do-hahah no im kidding)

Blaxploitation: Film genre originating from the U.S in the 70's when many exploitation films were made to target an audience of Urban Black people. (wiki)

Basically in other words, its movies, tv shows, etc. racist-ly, purely based on all things African American-black. But see its not racist since, its black people acting like black people, directed by black people, about the culture of black people...makes sense!
i mean if other people can make movies/tv shows based on their own popular culture, then why cant black people..and considering, in the last 10-20 years(or more) black culture is the coolest of cool's of all culture..am i right?
Its litrally embedded itself into all the other cultures..dance,music, vandalism(i know thats not cultural(doesnt define a society) but its also in a very racist generalization attached directly to the african americans)

Starting in 1965, with movies like,
Guess whose coming to dinner, Sidney Poitier paved the road for African Americans penetrating the predominantly white culture in movies, and sending a message that the black and white cultures CAN Cross paths.
This helped open doors that let other Black actors, composers, musicians come out and work side by side with the white culture, bringing with them their own touch of the GREAT talent AND a new age of movies and music with strong 'Political meaning'. Other artists like
Funkadelic, James brown, Sly's multiracial Family Stone, etc. all composed music with serious political messages and the RnB charts popularity showed that the people liked it.

Then by the 1970's Other famous Black talent emerged, with
Bill Cosby, Richard Pryo, Aretha Franklin, Gladys Knight, etc. Movies which proved predominantly focussing on the Black Culture, featuring soundtracks of Funk, Soul, Rap, etc. and starring mostly Black actors, target marketing to a black audience were soon made commercial. The subject matter in these movies, was of interest to the Black people, portraying their African American culture..

..BUT as usual, since human beings tend to be so judgemental and sensitive, such films were accused of stereo typing the black population, especially with content of
pimps, drugs, dealers, etc.
Speaking of pimps, drugs and BIG hair, if you havnt ever come across any blaxploitation movie-firstly kill yourself secondly here are some suggestions, of the kinds you can watch.. (mostly funny, i put an asterix next to the REALLY good ones)
Foxy Brown
Pootie Tang *
UnderCover Brother *
Dr. Black and MR. Hyde
Blacula (dont laugh-its actually a movie, i googled it)
You want the serious stuff, watch Hero Ain't nothing but a Sandwich, (a movie about a 13 year olds drug addiction and how his mother and her boyfriend help him fight it)

..TO Be Continued*
